This is a little kitty I used to play with when I went to Grandma's house (she lived next door when I was growing up). I know it's stuffed with straw because one of the feet is worn through on the bottom. I don't know how long she had it before I got it when she died. I think it's green eyes are glass, and one of them is cracked, but that doesn't matter to me in the least. When I look at this kitty, it reminds me of all the other "toys" she had in a box for us: her old purses, powder compacts, Grandpa's silk ties, wooden spools and scarves.

What a sweet kitty! My mom keeps those same kinds of toys for my daughter. She also has a purse with that sort of thing in it that we take to church and call her "church purse". lol.
ReplyDeleteGood memories! I love the way you have the kitty displayed. I remember playing dress-up with old clothes and purses when I was little.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love old, cherished toys and stuffed animals. This one is a charmer! and what wonderful memories to go with it.
ReplyDeleteI also see that you collect old books. Nice display.
It has been fun touring the vintage thingies at the various blogs. My grandma had only a precious few things for us little ones to play with at her house - among them was a set of salt/pepper shakers of the kennel ration dog and the black tidy cat kitty! They were plastic, unlike all of the figurines she had of various dogs and cats! Thans for sharing your straw-stuffed kitten!
ReplyDeleteI love little kitty, and what a lovely sweet grandmother you had to keep all those wonderful things for you to play with. I've tried to do that with my grandchildren..
