Every once in a while when I'm out combing the estate sales, I'll come across a cute little hat. Not being a "hat person" I always figure I can take it apart and use the elements to decorate something else. I get them home and think, "My gawd, that's a cute hat! What could I possibly make with those vintage flowers and leaves that could be any cuter?!?!?", finding the answer that comes back is always "NOTHING!!! "Add to this that now every Thursday night opening at the shop I am required to wear a cute hat, and you will have the reason for my small collection of hats. I've become a regular Lucy Ricardo, sneaking them into the house past my Ricky, who just rolls his eyes. But I don't have to whine, stamp my feet and take them back because they are too 'spensive--the most one has cost me EIGHT DOLLARS!!!

I was going to call you a CHICKEN for not modeling one for us - - - but then you did in that last picture. Only thing, it won't enlarge when I click on it, so I can't see ALL the details!!!
ReplyDeleteThat first hat is SOME hat - - -does that happen to be the one you're wearing in the last picture?
Once we had a "hats" lady's banquet. We collected old hats from every source imaginable and each lady got to take one home at the end of the evening.
i love your vintage hat collection and i'm ssoo glad you don't pull them apart..they're perfect just the way they are!!
ReplyDeleteThose are cute hats--nothing like that around here.
ReplyDeleteWhatever it takes to make you happy and have fun, go for it. Even if it is old hats.
ReplyDeleteHi there, what a darn nice collection of hats, and in such terrific shape. You never know when the next tea party might be....
ReplyDeleteI love vintage hats especially if they come in nice pastle, sweet colours and if the blooms look pretty too..
ReplyDeleteI have few blooms that plucked from the hat.. waiting for me to use up for some project..
thank you for sharing & happy VTT
Quite incredible hats! The first with the birds' nest is hilarious! You must look very elegant on Thursday evenings!
ReplyDeleteI have many vintage hats. Found most of them all smashed together in boxes at auctions. I always thought I was born in the wrong era because I would have loved to wear hats.
ReplyDeleteThe hats are the best, I grew up always wearing hats it was the lark of a lady-along with stockings & gloves.
