I was inspired to share the barkcloth curtains AND the cameo appearance by my dog, Max (kitty Stella had to get into the act also) by my pal Connie at Over Good Ground. I got these panels for $5.00! For the Pair!!! I go to a lot of estate sales and flea markets when I'm looking for items to sell at the shop, but these babies "hung" around! I love them so much, I decorate around them! Bedding and accessories that go in the bedroom usually match, and with all the colors in them, there's a lot to choose from.

Life Ain't Always Pink and Sweet...
...in fact, sometimes it's down right black and bitter. You go through your life, working hard to get to where you are, having fun when you can and taking care of what needs to be done. Then because of something over which you have no control, brakes are slammed, the world tilts upon its axis and all eyes are on your future. You are all at once fragile and bruised. And it's a good time to be reminded that someone somewhere is hoping that someday soon you will fly again.

Vintage Thingies Thursday ~ It's Raining Cats and...Memories
This is a little kitty I used to play with when I went to Grandma's house (she lived next door when I was growing up). I know it's stuffed with straw because one of the feet is worn through on the bottom. I don't know how long she had it before I got it when she died. I think it's green eyes are glass, and one of them is cracked, but that doesn't matter to me in the least. When I look at this kitty, it reminds me of all the other "toys" she had in a box for us: her old purses, powder compacts, Grandpa's silk ties, wooden spools and scarves.

Charmed, I'm Sure!
Friday the 13th? Unlucky? Not for me! I spent mine surrounded by friends, food and tinkly charms on my wrist. All the guests had made ahead of time (and wrapped up) at least seven charms to give to each other. These charms were extra special because they were all as different and as special as each lovely person attending. Some guests had NEVER done any crafting and doing as well as they did on this tiny project was quite impressive! Beads, crystals, Scrabble tiles, hearts and embellished charms made for a great mix of colors, shapes, sizes and textures. Amazingly, there were two single charms that were almost exactly the same! We spent the first portion of our luncheon oohing and aahing while attaching all the charms to our bracelets. Then we (daintily, of course) dove into the spread of yummies before us, and ended with two beautiful desserts! It was pouring rain and freezing outside, but you'd never know it from the warmth inside! Utterly charming and lucky indeed!

Vintage Thingies Thursday
Remember that little cabinet I shared a while back? Poor little thing on the floor of the laundry room, not realizing its true potential? Well, it ain't got the BLUES no more, because now it's RED HOT with vintage valentines! I love the blue and reds together.
Also here's something that I made to sell at the shop for the last sale. It's a Valentine shadow box! I sold three of them, and have 2 left for ME! (You can click on the photos to make them bigger.) Hope you have a happy Valentine's Day!

Vintage Thingies Thursday ~ A Treasury Of Thoughts
I got this book of "thoughts" at an estate sale recently. Looks like it was in a library for families/workers of the Southern Pacific Railroad (?). I think I've already found my favorite paragraph in the whole book, even though I've only skimmed through it. (You can click on the picture to enlarge it). Funny how the words in a book published in 1877, still ring true. Find more Vintage Thingies every Thursday at : Colorado Lady's Blogspot
