Past Due Tuesday ~ Old Book

Entitled "Encyclopedia Of Social & Business Forms", this old book, (found at a garage sale in the $1.00 box) was signed by the giver in 1882. The date of publication is not visible, but starts with "187_"!

(You can click on the image to enlarge it)

It is full of engraved plates protected by tissue, but what I love about it most are the great flourished fonts, and the content gives a written glimpse at what was socially acceptable behaviour of the day. (For all you newlyweds unsure of how to behave, please check out "The Duties Of The Wife" section).

According to a reputable bookseller, it's not worth a dime in its condition, but it's very dear to my heart.

At first I laughed when I read Duties of the Wife~ but then I thought that a little of this could go a long way to making marriages better in our society now. Just a little..., and it would have to go both ways. I don't see any things about "Duties of the Husband" in there.
This is a very interesting book. I would love to look at it sometime.
